Let's Dive into the Enchanting World of Tulips!

Tulips are one of our absolute favorite flowers here at Kay’s Flower School, they are a floral delight that never fails to captivate. With a kaleidoscope of colors, textures, shapes, and charming quirks, tulips have an undeniable allure that keeps customers returning for more. Nothing announces the arrival of spring quite like a vase filled with these exquisite blooms.

To kick start off the new year with a burst of vibrancy, consider the Lions Glory variety – a radiant yellow that banishes the January blues. Weighing in at a substantial 45+ grams, they outlast and outshine many others. Another anticipated favorite is the cream double-flowered tulip "Fortaleza," destined to double in size after a refreshing drink. These dynamic varieties will undoubtedly ignite Tulip season and keep customers returning for more.

Our January mantra? "Do more tulips!"

While tulips are irresistibly charming, there's a bit you should know about them:

Tulip codes when buying wholesale:

  • En: Dutch for Single

  • DU: Double

  • PA: Parrot

  • FR: Franje in Dutch, meaning frilled or frilly-edged, not French.

Florists swear by CVBN tablets for extended vase life, ensuring the xylems stay open. With an average vase life of around 10 days, some varieties offer even more.

Here are some tips to share with your customers:

  • Always use cold water and change it every two days.

  • Keep tulips away from fruits, as they are super ethylene-sensitive.

  • Avoid warm temperatures; tulips thrive in winter conditions.

  • Maintain the vase at least one-third full for optimal hydration.
