Once we hit May in Ireland and the UK, peony season explodes and every wedding couple is looking for these beautiful blooms to be part of their wedding day. For every florist Peonies are one of their most challenging blooms to work with, they either open too fast and have gone over just before the wedding or they wont open on time and are like golf balls for the wedding.

How to stop Peonies Opening too fast

  1. Store in a flower cooler or a cool room ( not a household fridge)

  2. Use ice cubes in the water

  3. Avoid direct sunlight

  4. Store away from older flowers or indeed fruit that will be releasing Ethelyn gas ( natural ripening gas)

  5. Use Chrysal Professional 2 Concentrate when conditioning to slow down maturing

  6. Use a net to keep petals closed without damage

Always buy an extra bunch, they are beautiful and bold, temperamental and moody and can work against you even at the best of times with the correct conditioning and care.
